It's been a long time coming, and it still is in the process of expanding and improving, but it's finally posted!
The new site contains new and updated information on solar energy and solar products and services supplied by SolarOntario.
Our web site continues to provide the "unspun" truth about solar energy - where it works - where it doesn't work well, what it costs and what the real paybacks are, also, which solar equipment is best for which applications. This makes this solar website different from most of the other solar sites you'll find on the web. SolarOntario doesn't manufacture solar equipment, nor do we have an exclusive distributorship for solar products, so we don't have a particular axe to grind or favoured product to pitch. Unfortunately there are many web-sites out there simply trying to sell a solar product. These sites often contain bad and/or grossly inaccurate and/or deceptive information - either due to the ignorance of the site's owner, or intentionally because they have no ethics. Note: the Canadian Solar Industries Association, recently made its industry code of ethics "voluntary", meaning they don't have to - or intend to - enforce it....
SolarOntario cares that our information is accurate and correct - we endevour to keep it up to date.
This is a solar information web site. We don't sell any equipment through the site. Our products are our services - we consult, design, supply and install solar energy systems. The majority of which are pool heating systems - simply because they have the best payback or all of the solar technologies. We have designed, supplied and installed the two largest solar pool heating systems in Canada, and over 800 other solar energy systems.
The Ontario Power Authority's program for the solar Feed-In-Tariff has generated a great deal of interest in solar recently. Our site trys to help you sort the cheese from the sleaze and present a realistic picture of what the solar prospects and options really are.
