Q:

What types of wind generators are available?

A:

There are two scales of wind turbine available. Small and large.

Most small wind generators are under 5 Kilowatts, with very few being larger until you reach 40 kilowatts. The 40 kilowatt + units are for commercial wind farms. There is another jump to wind turbines in the 500 kilowatt size range. The largest wind turbines reach as much as 3000 kilowatts (3 megawatts).

Almost all of these units are horizontal axis turbines. A few vertical axis turbines are being built.
